Post lockdown, five acclaimed Sussex based jazz musicians have recorded a mixture of jazz standards with a nod to Monk and new interpretations of old favourites. Trumpeter Chris Coull has led this ensemble with vocalist Sara Oschlag, pianist Mark Edwards, bass man Dan Sheppard and drummer Darren Beckett with nine tracks to take you on a musical journey of post-bop arrangements and sumptuous ballads.
“With this recording, Sara Oschlag confirms her position in the very front rank of contemporary jazz vocalists. Chris Coull contributes inspired and tasteful solos throughout and the rhythm section, led by the superb Mark Edwards, is an absolute delight. The result is a charming, beautifully arranged album of unhackneyed material with everyone at the top of their game”
Alan Barnes – Award winning UK Saxophonist.
“Great to hear my old pal Chris Coull & company swingin’ through some jazz classics . Nice take on Cole Porter (“Just one of Those Things”) and Clifford Brown’s great standard “Daahoud”; it’s a groove!”
Jerry Weldon – Saxophonist at Jazz At The Lincoln Centre / Harry Connick Jnr. band.
