Featuring Simon Savage (tenor sax), Chris Coull (trumpet), Roy Hilton (piano) Dominic Howles (bass) and Joe Edwards (drums).
Chris Coull leads this all-star sextet with a selection of tunes from the golden era of 1950’s and 60’s classic Blue-Note records. Recorded live in 2023 at The Ropetackle Arts Centre, Shoreham-by-sea, the album is a collect of compositions by the jazz greats; Kenny Dorham, Hank Mobley, Curtis Fuller, Woody Shaw and of Course the great Wayne Shorter.
This album is an eclectic mix of intimate small group jazz, vocal and instrumental features, large scale songs with strings and rhythm and blues. Featuring compositions from Michael Pigneguy, arrangements from Chris Coull and orchestrations from The Doha String Quartet led by internationally acclaimed violinist Dmitri Torchinski.
