Featuring an all-star cast of Andy Panayi (sax), Mark Bassey (trombone), Terry Seabrook (piano), Paul Whitten (bass), Pete Cater (drums) and led of course by the trumpet playing of Chris Coull himself; Expect a varied selection of 50’s and 60’s Bluenote records from the likes of Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan, Hank Moberly and Kenny Dorham

Mike Hughes is one of the North West’s foremost exponents of the vibraphone and he joins us here in Hove on part of his extensive UK tour. Heavily influenced by the sounds of the great jazz vibes players, expect shades of Lionel Hampton, Milt Jackson, and Bobby Hutcherson. Mike is joined by the Chris Coull quartet at this NYC supper club inspired setting with candle lit tables, Thai menu, cosy alcoves and world class jazz in the heart of Hove.

We welcome the return of one of the UK’s most inventive and creative tenor saxophonists – cutting his teeth in the 1970’s with Ian Carr’s ‘Nucleus’ Tim went on to greater heights with his own projects, including Loose Tubes, and more recently his composition for orchestra ‘Turner and the Thames’ for The London Jazz Festival. An inventive and exceptionally talented player, with technique and elegance in abundance. With Chris Coull (trumpet), Si Robinson (piano) and Joe Edwards (drums).

With a career spanning decades, Geoff is revered for his subtle phrasing, deep musicality, and close association with the great tradition of West Coast and cool jazz.

Hosted by trumpet player Chris Coull, the evening features an exceptional rhythm section: the perfect backdrop for Simkins’ elegant lines.

Her performances are a unique mix of classic standards and lesser known gems from the Great American Songbook. With backing from the Chris Coull quartet.
