Julian has been at the forefront of the local and national jazz scene for over 4 decades, starting his career with Nina Simone and well known for his creative flair and deep connection to his influences that range far and wide. Here, he teams up with Chris Coull for a tribute to Chet Baker + Stan Getz legendary 1958 album ‘Stan meets Chet’. With a dynamic rhythm section led by pianist John Donaldson making a welcome return plus Nigel Thomas (bass) and Joe Edwards (drums).

Chris Coull leads his own band as the sextet revisit their album “Live At the Ropetackle” – recorded in 2024 in Shoreham. Mike Hughes at The Speakeasy Jazz Club
Mike Hughes is one of the North West’s foremost exponents of the vibraphone and he joins us here in Hove on part of his extensive UK tour. Heavily influenced by the sounds of the great jazz vibes players, expect shades of Lionel Hampton, Milt Jackson, and Bobby Hutcherson. Mike is joined by the Chris Coull quartet at this NYC supper club inspired setting with candle lit tables, Thai menu, cosy alcoves and world class jazz in the heart of Hove.

We welcome the return of one of the UK’s most inventive and creative tenor saxophonists – cutting his teeth in the 1970’s with Ian Carr’s ‘Nucleus’ Tim went on to greater heights with his own projects, including Loose Tubes, and more recently his composition for orchestra ‘Turner and the Thames’ for The London Jazz Festival.
