Join us for an exciting night of live jazz at The Speakeasy, featuring acclaimed trombonist Nick Mills. A graduate of Leeds College of Music and winner of the 2001 Brass Award, Nick has toured internationally with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, Glenn Miller UK, and top UK jazz ensembles.

His diverse credits include work with Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Gregory Porter, and Fatboy Slim, blending traditional swing with modern soul and jazz flair. Expect hard-swinging grooves and standout solos from one of the UK’s most versatile brass players.

Julian has been at the forefront of the local and national jazz scene for over 4 decades, starting his career with Nina Simone and well known for his creative flair and deep connection to his influences that range far and wide. Here, he teams up with Chris Coull for a tribute to Chet Baker + Gerry Mulligan plus a dynamic rhythm section led by pianist Oli Howe making a welcome return plus Paul Whitten (bass) and Angus Bishop (drums).

For the first time since 2023, ‘The Three Trumpeteers’ makes an appearance with local trumpeters Chris Coull and Jack Kendon joined by Jackson Mathod; a multi-instrumentalist and singer who has shot to prominence on the London scene with his virtuosic mastery of the instrument. After starting his career playing for Stormzy and Jordan Rakei he launched his debut album ‘Travels In A Confined Space’ to critical acclaim. The rhythm section is led by legendary pianist Roy Hilton, Nigel Thomas (bass) and Joe Edwards (drums). Expect unadulterated be-bop and hard bop as this front line trumpet trio set to work!

Join us for an evening of high octane be-bop from the Blue Note recording label’s classic 50’s and 60’s era, with tune from Horace Silver, Dexter Gordon, Cannonball Adderly, John Coltrane et al.

Simon Savage is a former NYJO member who studied at the Leeds College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He has played many gigs with Mark Bassey, both in a small group setting and as part of the extremely popular Bassey Plays Basie. He has also played in the Pete Cater Big Band as well as various projects of his own. He is a very busy teacher of the saxophone, flute & Clarinet as well as jazz improvisation.

Imogen Ryall has been at the forefront of the UK jazz scene wowing audiences with her interpretations of jazz standards old and new, as well as a many special projects in partnership with leading jazz instrumentalists.

Trumpeter Chris Coull has long wanted to put together a group to perform this musical work that seamlessly crosses the boundaries between classical and jazz by the maestro himself, George Gershwin.

Expect all your favourite songs from the famous musical, plus some unhackneyed musical pieces, interspersed with a synopsis of the story. The rhythm section is John Turville (piano), Simon Thrope (bass) and Steve Fishwick (drums).
