Tony Kofi has long been at the forefront of the British jazz scene, with a tone and improvisational style that emulates the great Charlie ‘Bird’ Parker, the godfather of post-war bebop. Parker’s legendary partnership with an 18-year-old Miles Davis produced some of the most ground-breaking tunes that set the foundations for the great lineage of modern jazz musicians to follow. In this concert, Tony and trumpeter Chris Coull revisit a selection of those great recordings, with Tim Wells – piano, Paul Whitten – double bass, Angus Bishop – drums.
